Hon. Isa Matara Chairman Kirikasamma local government area of Jigawa State is enmeshed in a web of multiple scandals involving millions of naira, a reliable source revealed. 
it was revealed that many contracts awarded within the period were either inflated, abandoned after payment or that irregular payments were made concerning them.

The report also said some of the contracts were awarded to companies where some of the local government officials or their friends and loyalists have interests.

It also said some officials colluded with the local government chairman to review some of the contracts upward.


Hon. Isa Matari, illegally diverted over N80m from the council’s account for personal use.

Matari allegedly misappropriated the funds using his treasurer, Director and cashier.

A source said the council boss has been telling people he is untouchable because of his closeness to Governor Muhammad Badaru.

Investigations also showed that Matari, without due process and against regulations, selectively awarded contracts or just merely invited whosoever he wanted and handed contracts out to them. In many of these cases, the contracts were awarded to family members.

Some staff of the local government council have accused the chairman of nepotism, corruption, highhandedness as well as using the security agencies, and judiciary to intimidate staff members, as well as resident of the local government area, he sees as enemies, among other allegations.

A staff who spoke on condition of anonymity, for fear of victimisation by the chairman, said the local government was being run like a private estate. 



According to the source, workers live in perpetual fear because they are allegedly treated like slaves by the chairman.

"Kirikasamma has not had it so bad like this since its establishment as local government area. Since his assumption in office as local government chairman, corruption, fraudulent practices, intimidation, nepotism, ethnic hatred, oppression, highhandedness, victimisation, and indiscriminate queries have become a daily affair in the local government.
