Over N80b Fraud: EFCC should investigate Ex-Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika - Blue-print and Transparency Group

A civil Society Organisation, Blue-print and Transparency Group have calI on the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), to investigate and probe ex-aviation minister Sen. Hadi Sirika.

In recent time, groups and individuals had asked anti-corruption agencies to investigate and prosecute Sirika, a former Nigeria Aviation minister,
 over allegations of over N80 billion fraud, and other key participants in the former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

The group in separate statements issued on Thursday, urged the anti-graft agencies to quickly act.

The statement, read;
“We are all aware of the damage corruption has done to the economy of the country. When criminal acts such as the one the ex-aviation minister is being accused of are allowed to go unpunished, society suffers dire consequences.

“We are solidly behind the Anti-graft agencies to do everything lawful to recover the stolen funds.

“We advise the Anti-graft agencies to take the matter further to the courts and not limit it to themselves. This is a very serious corporate malfeasance against nigeria as a country which must be redressed.

“We also want to warn that we will not accept anything short of justice on this matter. We won’t also accept plea bargain or political solution of any kind. Hadi Sirika has insulted Nigerian people. Let him have his day in court to prove his innocence.

"We call on anti-graft agencies to act swiftly on the over N80 billion fraud. Anti-graft agencies should remember that Nigerians are watching. They must uphold professionalism and let the truth come out on this issue.”

“We urge the EFCC to immediately swing into action and get to the root of the matter so that justice will be done to the Nigerian citizens bearing in mind that no one is above the law"

“Consequently, we hereby give EFCC a 14-day ultimatum from Friday 9th February 2024, to invite Senator Hadi Sirika for questioning and prosecution; otherwise, we civil society organizations will occupy the commission’s premises to seek justice.

“We support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his administration and will support any just cause initiated to enhance the development of our dear country.”

The statement added that they would not allow saboteurs to get away with their acts of corruption and impunity.
